Afrelib assists Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) & Economically Disadvantaged Communities

In truth, Afrelib’s work in Europe started as a consequence of efforts in West Africa. As Afrelib worked with various stakeholders in West Africa to establish a workable approach to the challenges on the ground, opportunities to work with UK schools arose.

It was decided to focus on areas of need notably children with Special Needs Education and Disabilities (SEND) and children in economically disadvantaged communities. In both of these communities, huge challenges exist and any help Afrelib can contribute in order to improve life chances is welcome.

Our Commitment

  • Work with schools in Africa and encourage adoption of learning tools by students and teachers
  • Facilitate increased access to and wider usage of tools that have little or no barriers to entry
  • Partner with publishers, retailers, government agencies, funders, expert advisers in joined-up ways
  • Engage directly with examination boards to ensure maximum visibility and accessibility
